Tirzepatide is a first-in-class medication that acts as a dual receptor agonist, mimicking two natural gut hormones:

GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) and GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide).

By activating both receptors, it provides more significant weight loss and blood sugar control than medications that target GLP-1 alone.

Tirzepatide is the peptide name for for the weight loss drug manufactured by Mounjaro.
